He would be 155 years old if he were still alive. While he’s passed, his discoveries continue to grow into new innovations and technology.

Hertz was the first to prove James Maxwell’s idea that light moves in waves. The discovery was key to inventions like radio, radar and broadcast TV, and his experiments proved the theory that electricity could transmit without the knowledge of the human eye. This proven invisible activity was a breakthrough in science, unique to its time.

Google honored Hertz with a doodle of a continually moving wave boasting colors of blue, red, yellow and green, and following the shaping pattern of the Google letters typically found on the website’s home page.
